“Rehab” and ” Tears dry on their own” singer Amy Winehouse found dead in London! The singer was only 27 years old but drug abuse was the sole culprit which lead to her early death. Her death was treated as unexplained by police but wasn’t a surprise to her fans due struggles and addictions she faced.
Born to a Jewish family, daughter of a taxi driver father and pharmacist mother. She took interest in Jazz at the age of 9 influenced by her dad who she seemed close to, after the spit between her parents.
Amy was a successful soul, R&B and Jazz singer and went on to win 5 Grammy awards in a single night, thus, making her the first female ever to live the credited win. She wore a distinctive style; a retro look with a beehive on her head and her fame spread not only for her style, behavior, struggles with her addiction, her failed marriage, but most of all for her soulful voice.
Tributes keep pouring in from her close and dear ones whom she was associated with during her reign in the music industry…
“We are all heartbroken and saddened beyond words,” her publicist, Tracey Miller, said Saturday in confirming Winehouse’s death.
Gloria Woods, 26, who works for a record label, said: “There will never be another voice like that in our generation.”
Singer and actress Kelly Osbourne wrote: “i cant even breath right now, im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!”
“I’ve been crying all day,” her friend Australian singer Sia told the Herald yesterday. “It’s pretty devastating. She was a really good egg who had a bad disease that was eating her up. Over the last couple of years, I lost touch with her. I’d text her every couple of months and say, ‘I love you, if you need any help, call me.’ ”
Its really sad we lost a young singer whose contribution to the world remains in the music she left behind, and joins the lists of celebs, Kurt Cobain, Brian James, Jim Morrison who have also passed away at 27.
Amy Winehouse will always be remembered- 14th Sept- 23rd July- May her soul RIP..
